Oxleas NHS Trust
Project:
Development of kiosk based patient information system
Sector:
NHS
Target:
General Public
The Requirement
Oxleas Mental Health NHS Trust needs to ensure that key information and advice for patients, carers and families is maintained and up to date. In order to provide service users and carers with accurate information, at places convenient to them, Oxleas took the decision to install a number of touchscreen information kiosks at key sites.
They chose Amatica to supply and install the kiosks and develop an online content management system that would ensure Oxleas staff would have complete control over the information displayed on the kiosks, and the ability to update whenever necessary.
The Solution
The Archer kiosk's small footprint and robust enclosure makes the kiosk ideal for busy healthcare environments. Though it takes up only a small amount of floorspace, the kiosk is highly visible and can easily be branded to suit the customer's requirements. With a 17" touchscreen and fully integrated A4 thermal printer, it was the ideal choice for Oxleas.
Amatica also developed a highly logical interface with attract sequence to convey key information to service users and carers on subjects covering:
- Health information including conditions and disorders affecting mental health
- Treatments & medication with content supplied by the United Kingdom Psychiatric Pharmacy Group
- Service directory with services available in the locality of the kiosk and services available nationally
- News & events in the area
- 'Your Rights' section, to advise patients and carers.
Kiosk content is updated via an online maintenance and content management system.
The Outcome
Oxleas has a system that enhances their approach to improving accessibility to information. Telecommunications costs are avoided yet currency of content assured. The system is geocentric, capable of displaying information on each kiosk that is relevant to the area in which it is located.
