Merseyside Police

The Requirement

For several years, Merseyside Police has edited, printed and distributed its internal newsletter, 'Merseybeat', to front line police and support staff every four to six weeks. Merseybeat has been an important channel which allows the police to keep in touch with its employees and provides a platform through which employees can learn more about the organisation and their colleagues.

The cost of printing and distributing a full colour, broadsheet newspaper is expensive. An online version of the newsletter will not only reduce the overall cost of circulation, but is also faster to deploy, easier to manage, edit and update, and delivered directly to each employee via their desktop, even smartphone.

The Solution

Amatica's solution is an online magazine, supported by its dynamic content management system - Proximity - to give greater flexibility than an email newsletter, yet be easier to manage and significantly reduce Merseyside Police's costs.

Amatica designed a flexible template that incorporates a number of content categories.

Whilst retaining the main features of the now superseded printed newsletter, Merseybeat Online has extra features including articles archiving, a facility which is impossible to achieve efficiently with printed material.

Merseybeat Online can be updated by authorised staff editors whenever there is news to be communicated. News and feature articles are delivered direct to users' desktops.

Merseyside Police: Merseybeat Online

The Outcome

Merseyside Police will see significant reduction in print and distribution costs as well as an increase in circulation and readership.

Merseybeat increases visibility of the police's social media channels amongst front line and support staff and employees can keep abreast of developments that affect them as well as learn more about their employers and colleagues.
